FLIGHT COMPETITION FORMAT

Members of the Seattle Police Golf Association playing in the Flight Competition will be divided by handicap index into
nine flights of about sixteen players each.  Four qualifying rounds of golf will be played at scheduled courses to earn
seeding points.  The lowest net player in each flight will receive ten points, and the next lowest net player will earn
nine points and so on for each round.  Persons with tie scores will receive the same number of points.  Everyone who
plays in a round will earn at least one point.  Competitors missing a round receive no points.  (Low net score is your
actual number of strokes taken in your round (gross) minus your handicap strokes which are determined by
converting your GHIN index at the course played.)  In addition, the low net and low gross player in each flight for each
match receives a sleeve of SPAA logo golf balls.  The committee will assign new golfers a temporary GHIN index to
place them in a Flight so they may compete immediately.

Score cards for rounds played with at least one other SPGA member will be accepted for play at the scheduled
course from the Saturday before, through the Sunday after the scheduled day of play.  If you play the scheduled
course other than on the scheduled Thursday, you must declare to your playing partner, before the round begins,
whether or not the round will count for SPGA point competition.  You may not attempt to better a score from a
previously played round for a given match week.  The President reserves the right to personally approve a member’s
play in advance of scheduled qualifying matches for planned substantial vacations.

In an effort to shorten the time between the matches and the mailing of the results and standings, We will continue to
insist that all signed and attested score cards from each match be turned in by 1600 hours on the Monday following
the match week.  Please remember to include your last names and your strokes from your converted handicap
    indexes on the cards.

After the four qualifying rounds, the playoffs will begin between the eight top finishers in each flight.

     MATCH PLAY FORMAT

“Match Play” competition is a hole by hole event in which the competitor with the lower net score on each hole wins
the hole.  If both players have the same net score, the hole is halved.  The winner of the match is the player winning
the most holes.  In case of a tie, players may elect, if possible, to continue play, flip a coin, putt or chip off, low net on
handicap holes, consider low net or low gross scores or some other form of tie breaker.  Players will convert their
most current GHIN index at the mutually agreed upon golf course conversion sheet for the course played.  The player
with the lower handicap will give the competitor the difference in strokes starting with the number one handicap hole
on the score card of the course played.  Remember, you can also contact me via e-mail.

Winners will notify President Blanco at 206-919-4134 of their progress and contact members of their opposing match
to determine who they will play in the next round and agree upon a course.

The matches should be completed in accordance with the SPGA Schedule.  Please complete your matches in a timely
manner.  This final completion date allows less than a month to get all of the trophies printed.
